One at a time...

My OCD/want it done yesterday personality wants all of the "to-do's" marked off immediately in our house. Thankfully, due to our busy schedule with traveling, visitors, wallet, and life in general, we have done things slowly as we have moved in. (slow in my opinion, fast in others).

So, thus far we have painted 2 bedrooms, a living room, the laundry room, the half bath, and the kitchen. We got new stainless steel appliances, all new carpet upstairs (downstairs is hardwood), upgraded a few light fixtures, built gates on our back deck, bought a new couch, rug, chair, and then some yard work...I think that's it! The next task was to tackle our guest bathroom.

We started off with linoleum, an outdated light fixture, plain mirror, and some interesting green and white stripes that needed some serious attention.

Ryan ripped out the toilet.

He then painted the walls a light gray, almost white. Let's just say this was not as easy at it sounded. Not only were there lots of crevices to paint in this room, but he had to sand like a mad man on each line of the stripes, add 2-3 coats of primer, and 2-3 coats of paint. Job well, done if I do say so myself.

Ryan laid down a layer of vapor barrier, to keep from water soaking through.

Then he laid down the tile. We went with a darker tile, that resembles hardwood.

We bought a new mirror at Old Time Pottery for $50 bucks! SCORE! The trim on the mirror resembles the tile floor. We changed out the light fixture.

So here is the picture when we bought the house:

and here is the after:

Nothing better than a handy hubby! Thank you Ryan for all of your handwork while Mae and I were traveling! What a fun surprise to come home to! We love you!

Next up...replacing more light fixtures...never did I ever think I would be asking for a new ceiling fan for Mother's Day...never say never.

He is Risen!

We had a wonderful Easter with my family, here in Charlotte! We woke up to cinnamin rolls and 3 Easter baskets! One from BB and Buck, one from Nonna and K Paw, and one from the Easter bunny!

When I was younger my grandmother always got her grandkids bathing suits for Easter, so I decided to carry on the tradition last Easter for Mae. Here is her bathing suit for this year!

We went to a lovely service at our new church, where Mae will start WeeSchool in the fall.

I am forever grateful that the tomb was EMPTY and HE IS RISEN! Thank you sweet Jesus! Happy Easter!

No more cold!

We are so thankful for the warmer weather! I hate being cold and even more hate cold weather! So ready for it to be warm for good!

We had a fun day at our friend, Webber's house enjoying some sun on Thursday!

We spent the majority of the day yesterday in the garage building things! Ryan updated the light fixtures so he can woodwork at night and see better. While he was working, I built some boxes out of some scrap wood we had. I stained them and put them under two lamps in our living room to give them some height behind our couch! Ryan was impressed with my wood working skills! I have been learning through all of his hard work lately! Mae and I snuggled while we watched daddy work.

Ryan built this awesome gate for our back deck so Mae and I can enjoy outside without Eli all over us. Plus, she is stuck with me and can't escape!

I took a quick trip to Old Time Pottery and got a new umbrella for 20 bucks! I was so pumped! I spent way too much a few years back on a Pottery Barn one, and it ruined quickly...so I figured if I can get a cheap one each year it turns out just as good!

After our long days work, it was nice to unwind and relax with our new neighbors! They pulled their TV outside for the Master's and all the kids played in the cul-de-sac. Love our new friends and neighbors!

This morning, we all got up at 7:40 a.m. and made the executive decision to try the 8:00 service. We were there dressed and ready at 8:05. Super family powers. We have been struggling with which sermon to go to each Sunday, with Mae's morning nap schedule, so we thought we would try it! It was perfect and we all napped when we got home! Made for a long afternoon of Master's watching!

When we woke up, we headed to lunch nearby, and now are relaxing watching golf in our Master's gear daddy got us! Ryan went this year and last so we have lots!

Perfect weekend if I do say so myself, warm weather and all! Ready for this week. We will be getting ready for my parents to come for Easter weekend! Hurry up Friday!

Don't Mess withTexas

This past Thursday, we had a quick small, surprise celebration for Ryan's 30th, a week before his real birthday because his mother was in town to watch Mae!

We had a blast in Texas for our dear friend from high school, Derek and his new wife Ashley. Friday night we went to Derek and Ashley's house and had a fun night with their family and friends playing cornhole, eating dinner, and catching. We snuck away at the end for a drink out on the town with the bride and groom!

Then we met up with my cousin Philips. He went to UT and now lives there!

Philips left and Ryan and I partied like it was 1999! We pretended we were in college still and stayed out until 3 am. Sounded like a good idea at the time, but were exhausted the next day!

Saturday, our friends Kyle and Glen joined us and we had a day of fun and drinks in downtown Austin, after brunch and a drive around town. We then headed to the rehearsal dinner.

We then took a pedi-cab to hit the town again!

and had fun again on a night on the Austin town with the bride and groom.

Saturday was yucky weather so we rested most of the day, after lunch downtown. The wedding was beautiful and we are so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs. Sain!

So thankful for a fun weekend with my hubby and for our in-laws who watched this little nuggest while we were gone!

and we had to bring her back a tacky prize!

Filling up fast...

Our days have been filling up so fast here in Charlotte...Ryan is working his little hiney off, Mae and I are just letting the good times roll! We have been going to the park often...there are tons all over Charlotte, but my favorite is in our neighborhood! It is my favorite because it is walking distance and Mae is not a huge fan of the car seat these days, so anytime we can take a wagon or stroller, Life is GOOD!

We have met wonderful neighbors with kids, so we meet them lots at the park!

We love hanging out in the front yard...hoping this warmer weather will stay!

We have also have been to lots of play dates...some with neighbors, there are 5 girls that we get together with about once a week. We have also met up with a friend from college and her kiddos recently too! Play dates at our houses, and more recently, a play date uptown! We went to Imagion and for lunch afterwards! Emily and I worked at JH Ranch together, too, so it's fun to see how the Lord brought us back together!

Today, we are waiting for the IN-LAWS to arrive! We are celebrating Ryan's 30th early with them tonight, and then headed off for a mommy-daddy getaway to Austin, Texas!
Mae will be spoiled rotten when we return!
