So, thus far we have painted 2 bedrooms, a living room, the laundry room, the half bath, and the kitchen. We got new stainless steel appliances, all new carpet upstairs (downstairs is hardwood), upgraded a few light fixtures, built gates on our back deck, bought a new couch, rug, chair, and then some yard work...I think that's it! The next task was to tackle our guest bathroom.
We started off with linoleum, an outdated light fixture, plain mirror, and some interesting green and white stripes that needed some serious attention.
Ryan ripped out the toilet.
He then painted the walls a light gray, almost white. Let's just say this was not as easy at it sounded. Not only were there lots of crevices to paint in this room, but he had to sand like a mad man on each line of the stripes, add 2-3 coats of primer, and 2-3 coats of paint. Job well, done if I do say so myself.
Ryan laid down a layer of vapor barrier, to keep from water soaking through.
Then he laid down the tile. We went with a darker tile, that resembles hardwood.
We bought a new mirror at Old Time Pottery for $50 bucks! SCORE! The trim on the mirror resembles the tile floor. We changed out the light fixture.
So here is the picture when we bought the house:
and here is the after:
Nothing better than a handy hubby! Thank you Ryan for all of your handwork while Mae and I were traveling! What a fun surprise to come home to! We love you!
Next up...replacing more light fixtures...never did I ever think I would be asking for a new ceiling fan for Mother's Day...never say never.
